Week 1: Bracketing

This week we started the process of using the camera in manual mode! While it was a very daunting task, I like to think I handled it pretty well. Bracketing is taking pictures at different exposure settings. This allows to find which exposure setting is best for the shot one is trying to take. By doing it, you adjust the meter up towards the positive direction, in this case I went towards 1. Then to get less exposure, you go toward the negative 1. After looking at all 3 images you can see how the light exposure really effects the image being taken.

On a side note, I tend to have a hard time adjusting my shutter speed manually and I would love to go over that in class on Monday!

Meter 0 (ISO 100 4.3 mm   f/4  1/400)

Meter +1 (ISO 100 4.3 mm   f/4  1/160)

Meter -1 (ISO 100 4.3 mm   f/4  1/640)

Inspiration Picture:

(Info is anonymous)

This picture caught my image because it is the exact kind of photography I enjoy. It is street photography on a large scale format. Because of that the eye is constantly busy with something new to look at every time someone looks at it. While looking at it, one also gets to capture individual feelings or stories one may experiencing in real time. There is no posing, but real thought available for the viewer to take in. I hope to capture the same kind of photography myself!
